Not able to make to office on monday??

Hi,

I wonder why I am not able to go to office only on Monday?? Is it because of Monday blues or what?? I do not know.... Last week monday I was really down with fever and thing and this monday I had to accompany my wife to doc... somehow I have ski;pped two mondays consequently if you take a till of my leaves, mondays are the most....

Let us take the very general characteristics of week... people as per stats work well on wednesday...one great maha purush has told.... "week is like hanning window...." which means wednesday is peak and monday and friday are hollow... which means people tend to work more on wednesday and from mon to wed people tend to prepare to work.... and from wed to fri people tend to relax and work and only wed people actually work... is it true?? I do not know because at my consciousness I myself cannot agree this rule of hanning window but mundays are little sultry not only at climate but also at work... mondays are dull and lazy.... mondays are crazy for enjoyment but somehow going to office on monday is bore and dull.... I wonder on wednesday when I am on road at 11am then I find lots of traffic.... only on mon and tue..... you know on mon people tend to wake up late... on mon people tend to be lazy to drive so better go to office early on mondays :)

Yes I am true when you go at 9 you hardly find traffic on monday and peak is when people wake up at 8 and reach office on mon at 11... people tend to leave early to digest the fact that they have to come to office again the very next day.... managers are intelligent so they keep the weekly status meet on monday and plan for coming week....clients are intelligent to assign work on first day of week...so monday happens to be nightmare to people who dream to leave early but alas are caught at work to stay more time....

however If I start a company I will plan to give leave on every Monday and Friday since I know that people want leave on start and end of week haha.... if every company thinks this way think how many leaves one will have.... but the fact is these days people want more... forget mondays people are forced to work even in weekends....

It all depends on how we plan to work for the week... if we are clear on friday what to start on monday and be ready and go home,,, there would not be any nightmares of monday and work is well organized....

Some more laws on work by maha purush in the past....

1. Finish the work of this week on friday.....
2. Plan what to cover and work on Monday. Inertia of holiday will haunt you otherwise....
3. Plan for coming days on Monday and target to finish on Friday

Nice day ever spent

My manager was asking me - Prem when you will post a new article on your blog Tweaky Thoughts? so my friends asked me - man your blog is good but you are not a frequenter these days. Yes it reminded me of these busy schedules and stuff.... I have been at SiRF when I used to write the blog and I am now at Infotech. So there was some change in place and also some cheanges across to make me busy never like before and these days was out of windows and err bogs. Blogs are nothing to do with win or linux but I have windows on my personal laptop thats it....!

Difficult to write so many blogs. People ask me - man you write on from technical to spiritual and why do you maintain so many blogs? Can't you have all posts in one place? I say - flavor of audience matters. Those who wanted to read technical articles donot want to read about Dev - D movie summary when he wants to know about signals and systems. Those who want to know about what it takes to serve a person - about spirituality and service (my another blog is started recently. Find it yourself! It is about my spiritual quotient) donot want to know what is a analog and digital signal. Hence these many bifercations. And I intend to keep different concepts at different lengths so as to catch wavelengths of the audience. But enjoy writing. May be not too frequent to update all blogs but yes I do write them. Find out how many blogs I have created for yourself. What is the fun if I give links of all the sites?

Today is nice day ever spent. why? is it because I returned as a blogger. Hey! let me tell you that I am blogging almost daily on different topic these days but have been prominent there and not on this personal one. and oh! ya!! I will from now scribble something like this so as to make you read something like this. I know many of you are following this blog. Let me put my heart like a sheet of chart and paint my imagination with different colors of thought with no concept in mind and you can be the judge or reciptent who may read my faculty and decide what kind of person I am. he hehehe

!Again today is nice day ever spent. Spent two hrs afternoon making deep fry of Alu curry with Basin and basically finished it before taking a snap to make a blog but alaas I fnished totally forgetting it. Also these days I am cooking so much that I always remind to give some free tips to Bachelors who cook themselves. After deep fry alu curry I felt that I shoudl try it again with someone else as the audience for my curry. today it was only me who ate it. Also evening I spent some quality time at Vasavi temple (which I go every week) at Bhajans and felt it very enchanting. From then I spent some quality time for myself on laptop downloading something which is importnat. Rather today is actual sunday after many days where I spent the way I wanted to different to the way it has been nice. Hopefully I may write an article like this in continuation in my upcoming blogs.

Right chalo then....

recession times

Companies have been doing well at good times and at bad times. Recession - the common word heard today is the lean period that companies are facing doe to macro economic situation. Every engineer when he enters a company wishes that he would have a tremendous career in and out with the employer giving him a way to design his roadmap towards building a stable career. But due to recession many engineers have been facing the hard time either to face a pink slip or to have an ambiguous time where companies take some crucial decisions and employees fall prey to these situations.
It is not fault of the ordinary engineer who puts his full-fledged effort to get a product into the market. Stiff competition between products has resulted in early time to market situation between companies. Today the tier-1 companies face this early-time-to-market situation in cycles to beat the competitors to reach the end your to lure him to by the product for company success. However during recession time it is to be noted that the end use would be not much interested to buy the product for all the buying capacity itself has been hit to a low. As the sales of a perticular product decrease, it hugely effects the revenue of the quarter for the particular tier-1 company resulting it not to give a project or a design contract to its vendors thus resulting in loss of the market for tier-2 companies. This cycle continues till the service providers and reaches finally to the job market where the jobs being either freezed or the companies going to the way to show pink slips like the referree of a football match to its football players.
However the engineers who face pink slips have to face a tough situation - reaon? they donot have a immediate job in hand or they cannot decide what to do next. Engineers having joined as freshers are at tremendous confusion today as they are at start of building a wall with bricks. However the persons over 2 years to 5 years experience who are building their career at earlier stages have a chance to take up a career or to go to a higher education. It is seen that 90% of this category is continuing to try for a new job during recession. It is easy for them to change the career path since a person takes atleast 5 to 6 years to capture a proper skillset and dmain. The employers today assess the engineers as Software Ready or Domain Ready or Program Ready based on requirements. and all these 2 to 5 year esperience category fall in the line of Software Ready category and it easy for them to change their path during this time. Engineers above 6 years till 8 to 9 years are expected to be specialists taking a lead role for one or multiple categories. This category needs to be extremely careful if they intend to change their career since they are now domain ready specialists, companies would expect them to be expert in one or more domains. Additional responsibility of leading a team or technically helping a team is being considered as a added advantage. Engineers above 9 years of experience till 15 years are in the category of managers or architects who are the persons most affected by this recession. Since the oppurtunities are very lean for this category, there is a wait time demanded for each of this category to be choosy to find a oppurtunity in the current situation. Whatever experience level may be it depends on what kind of career path the engineer takes and what decision he intends to take during the recession.
The recession alltime is hitting the market, there are companies today which inspite of this lean period are hiring. It is to no one’s suprise that today most of the companies are very much careful to choose a person for a particular job. Be it a Multimedia engineer or be it a Linux developer, there is a stiff competition among the crowd to appear for a particular interview. Not to blame the consultants, they always do their job right when a job oppurtunity is opened, each consultant is ready and right up rolling his sleeves to capture the finest brains of the industry to his client and is like a feilder on a cricket ground. Today’s consultants remind me of the feilders like Jhonty Rhodes of SA and Md Azaruddin of India who have been best feilders of cricket times. Once you upload your CV on a premium job portal, wait and watch until atleast 8 to 10 consultants reach you with openings for same post for the same client. The tag-lines like “your CV is now shortlisted” may lure you to read the content until you finally notice after reading the content of the mail, the mail has been sent to a list (hige and fat) of so called un-disclosed-receiptents. You are now prey to these emails. One good thing is that whatever the tagline may be, the requirement reaches you on a First-Come-First-Serve basis based on which consultant would have made a contract first with his client. Now so as our job market is getting close by a niche group of engineers, so the market is also getting feilded by a niche group of consultants. For them it is a business and for us it is a job requirement.
In India, I can surely say that the recession has minimal impact on the job requests. For a set of keywords on the internet for a domain, you can find atleast 10 to 12 requirement descriptions making you realize all roads lead to rome - for the same requirement with only one company. However since several companies have been hiring, it is OK to see that you have so many requirements on the place. But it is quite important for one to hold his compass and map at this time of journey in turbulent wheather. The person with right skillset is always chosen for a right job but a kind of patience and restrain is required at these difficult times. As many companies are hiring in this season, we can hope that persons having seen pink slips would surely succeed the search of jobs in this time. Again sticking on the same career path of his expertise gives him more value during recession than changing a careerpath at the time of recession due to fear or assuming the grass on other side is greener.

Dev - D a movie - The Vodka Content

I saw Abay Deol - the younger brother of Sunny Deol or I can say the third son of Dharmendra, Abhay showed up his muscle all along in the film. I donot mean he had not worn his shirt instead I mean to say I had drunk gallons of Vodka through out the movie. A newbie Mahi gill was Paro in the Film and the newbie Kalki Koechlin is the Chanda in the film. Does not it bring something on your mind?

Equation:

Theorem: Modern devdaas coefficients:

Equation taker : Anurag Kashyap

Dev -> Abhay Deol

Paro -> Mahi Gill

Chanda -> Kalki Koechlin

Dev + Paro = Love

Dev - Paro = Vodka

--------------------------

2 * Dev = Love + Vodka = Gallons of Vodka out of frustation

--------------------------

Chanda X Dev = Perfect Vodka - Water combination

Dev + Chanda - Paro = Dil maange more Vodka

Finally

Dev + Chanda = End of film

I remember the singer Harivamsh Rai's song the famous Madhushaala - was a smash hit in those days. Through out the time, many people came up with themes on drinks but this movie mostly put it through Vodka statement in a modern fashon adding a little drug content to it. The taking and making of the film was far more than excellent showing what does it take to make and break a relationship....

Dev starts his love with Paro. Dev from London and Paro from Punjab. Paro wants Dev to try her (I am not wrong. She acts Hot) A miscreant spoils the game between Dev and Paro. Now a widower wants Paro to marry him and consequently we know that the marriage happens. Dev come to know the truth that Paro's father plans the spoil sport between them and then instead of asking Paro to come over or confessing he starts drinking Vodka. There is this Paro's sister in law who is after Dev trying to ask him to try her but anyways that is a different quotient. Dev leaves to Delhi from Punjab. Director is generous giving Dev's dad chance to Pump money into Dev's pocket like air into a bike's tyre. Dev is all now a free bird in a hotel trying out something else - This time not women but drugs and drinks (his fav Vodka).

There is this lennie girl who got tried by a boy and is a spoil sport in Delhi. After getting her vieeo tapes out, she decides to run along for life running away from her mad classmates, relatives, parents who keep embrassing her about the incident. BTW the director shows his muscle here like the girl is just in teens and is out of school. It is quite natural and now she turns to become a kind of err.... profession in the evenings and joins a college in the mornings to continue her studies. She renames herself as Chandramukhi or Chanda short to seduce men. Dev falls prey to her. Director is generous again showing Dev commitment towards Paro. This time he continues drinks as Chanda's refugee. Chanda truely falls in love with Dev.

What a pity - Dev wants Paro and Paro's sister-in-law wants Dev. There is a conversation over phone between Dev and Paro's hubby for mutual agreement for Paro and Paro's sister-in-law. Confused? Let me explain. Paro's hubby Mr. H wants Dev to marry his sis. Dev in turn asks him to send Paro. However Paro teaches Dev the essence of getting married and now since she is a variable in some other equation, she cannot attempt to seduce or get seduced. Dev gets struck in in confusion and frustated Devdrinks gallons of more Vodka. Eventually the final eqution - Dev & Chanda exchange their thoughts and experiences - eventually learn both are in mutual love. Story ends both living together thereafter.....

There is a nice picturisation in the film. The director has emphasized the Devdas story fitting it to the straight line curve of modern day relationships. It was so natural and one cannot guess what next moment would be, the audience were taken round the time frame of three hours with a new hatke kind of showbiz for old story. The Chanda role and story were perfect with the modern day faults and double faults occuring to teenagers. Director wanted to show that understanding and faith is more important to build a relation than a mere physical attachment. Though there is a kind of witty dosage of this concept in a different manner, it was more than awesome to see Abhay doing his best to fit into the Dev's role.

However, after all the film needs a complete sense of maturity to follow the whole subject till the last scene. It does fit to current trend but there is a danger of mis-guidance if it is interpreted wrongly.

Past is history.... Future is mystery

In the recent past we have seen so many things in life. Hmm! everything and anything that once occurs in history is always interesting. What is the history? To me past what ever is a hstory. Everyone of us have history as no one can exist without a past. interestingly how many are aware of the history of a person? It is my life and I am interested about it but knowing each other will require to know each other's past experiences. Strangely in this world one thing which happens without knowing other person's past is f-r-i-e-n-d-s-h-i-p which is greatest relationship in this world. I think even marriages happen with knowing past but only friendship happens without knowing one's past. No one will want to have a rule defining for his friendship like "I will first analyse this person's past and then make him a friend".

Future is something no one knows what happens tomorrow. If I can tell my future I would have been a great saint and I would be more philosophical. Only few people know their future. For a common man future lies as a mystery. What happens if we start knowing our future? life will turn tense right! you will probably do things which you donot want to do in life. Worse part will be you will get to know something bad is going to happen and good is going to happen and you will not have power to stop either of them. So better not know the future. Future thinking and planning is important but trying to know future is not needed. Of course, there is a big subject called parapsychology and astrology which deals with 'prediction' of the future. Prediction is something relative or abstract and you cannot garuntee that it will happen. But prediction of future increases hope and interest on one's life.

Most happy people donot worry either of past or future. These people come under the category called "PAST IS HISTORY AND FUTURE IS MYSTERY". They will consider past is history and it cannot be changed. They are not interested to think of their own past so how can they think to find out someone else's past? Right! now these people even donot worry about the future too as they see it mystifying... ! Now these people worry what is to be done in present. What to do at present and what is to happen in present. They are realistic folks....! They think about current happenings and live day by day happily and blissfully.Life is all full of suprises!

Donot worry about past or future and think from now past is history and future is mystery! Live today to the fullest!

one more birthday

Age is mind over matter, if you donot mind it does not matter........

- Mark Twain

I was celebrating my birthday as usual this year. Friends started wishing me Happy Birthday from night nine O'clock on the previous day onwards. At midnight 12 I got lot of calls wishing me happy birthday. It gives immense pleasure for me to know that so many friends remember my birth date. By the way it comes to my mind one question - is birthday so important in one's life? Some people even donot remember their birth date and celebrate the day as usual the same routine as any day. So many people hype it up with party galoring over wine flowing in and around. Some people make it simple to celebrate the birthday a bit special buying new clothes and visiting temples. Some people do some charity on the birthdays doing some great deed that will serve someone needy - these are socialites. Someone shy off to say that it is their birthday but they bask in the glory of getting recognized on their birthday. Not a problem! However you name it, it is anyhow a special day. But how many of us are really understanding what birthday means and what it tells us in life?

Does birthday mean that we need to celebrate a party with an extra candle? you will reach a age where you may need ceasefire or at later age fire department to blow the candles off.... but the fun is always there. Does birthday mean you spend some 500 bucks and give away party and spend the whole day for enjoyment? I shall tell you that the people who are born before 20th of a month are fairly lucky. I know how many purses will go empty when it is monthend and people who are born in last week need to plan for their birthday spending from first week of the month. Isn't it? However whether we show off or keep it simple it always reminds that you cross another year in your life. Each year is a reckoning. Each year is a realization of ambitions. Each year is an experience. Each year is a journey. Each year is a passage and so on.....

Infact it is a day to realize the past mistakes and make resolutions. We generally take Jan 1 to do it so why not keep birthday to do a revision? It is a revision of what we have made a resolution in past one year and what we need to make a resolution in future year. It is a time to verify our past one year tenure and be aware what needs to be planned in next year. Every year on personal front is quite important. Whether we move on careers or do something to enhance our work, our personal life is same and always changes with new phases of life entering in. It is the day to look behind and see what have we achieved in past X years when we complete the X on this day. It takes 10 minutes to make a self analysis and make a point to do something new in this year that will help our personal life. In my case, I made some resolutions myself to get to a better work-life balance. I decided to join yoga to enhance my health. I decided to finish my Guitar this year to get some self satisfaction of extra ciricular activity. On professional front I felt happy that I have completed one year in my current company and revisited my past one year experience. I made a resolution to enhance new skills on linux and drivers. On family front I decided to get some changes in my financial planning. On the view of friendships this year I brought many new friends into my circle but I keep forgetting to make a point with them catching them up. I decided to spend some ample time with them whenever I get some time. Remaining time I decided to dedicate to my reading skills and communication skills and improve my vocabulary. I have been doing some silly and want to become an expert in expressing things. This year also brought a quadrant way of planning time into my life. So I realize that this year will be great for me.

So it is your turn if your birthday is over or getting to come. you need to start thinking about what new resolutions that you plan to do this year and how do you plan to achieve them.

Real-life Dilbert quotes - some amazing entries

A popular magazine recently ran a "Dilbert Quotes" contest. They wanted people to submit quotes from their real-life Dilbert-type managers. Here are some of the submissions:
1. As of tomorrow, employees will only be able to access the building using individual security cards. Pictures will be taken next Wednesday and employees will receive their cards in two weeks. (This was the winning entry; Fred Dales at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, WA)
2. What I need is a list of specific unknown problems we will encounter. (Lykes Lines Shipping)
3. How long is this Beta guy going to keep testing our stuff? (Programming intern, Microsoft IIS Development team)
4. E-mail is not to be used to pass on information or data. It should be used only for company business. (Accounting Mgr., Electric Boat Company)
5. This project is so important, we can't let things that are more important interfere with it. (Advertising/Mktg. Mgr., UPS)
6. Doing it right is no excuse for not meeting the schedule. No one will believe you solved this problem in one day! We've been working on it for months. Now, go act busy for a few weeks and I'll let you know when it's time to tell them. (R&D Supervisor, Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing/3MCorp.)
7. My boss spent the entire weekend retyping a 25-page proposal that only needed editing. She claims the disk I gave her was damaged and she couldn't edit it. The disk I gave her was write-protected. (CIO of Dell Computers)
8. Quote from the boss: "Teamwork is a lot of people doing what 'I' say." (Mktg. executive, Citrix Corporation)
9. My sister passed away and her funeral was scheduled for Monday. When I told my boss, he said she died only so that I would have to miss work on the busiest day of the year. He then asked if we could change her burial to Friday. He said, "That would be better for me." (Shipping Executive, FTD Florists)
10. We know that communication is a problem, but the company is not going to discuss it with the employees. (AT&T Lone Lines Division)
11. We recently received a memo from senior management saying, "This is to inform you that a memo will be issued today regarding the subject mentioned above." (Microsoft, Legal Affairs Division)
12. One day my boss asked me to submit a status report to him concerning a project I was working on. I asked him if tomorrow would be soon enough. He said, "If I wanted it tomorrow, I would have waited until tomorrow to ask for it!" (New Business Mgr., Hallmark Cards)
As director of communications, I was asked to prepare a memo reviewing our company's training programs and materials. In the body of the memo one of the sentences mentioned the "pedagogical approach" used by one of the training manuals. The day after I routed the memo to the executive committee, I was called into the HR Director's office, and was told that the executive VP wanted me out of the building by lunch. When I asked why, I was told that she wouldn't stand for "perverts" (pedophiles?) working in her company. Finally he showed me her copy of the memo, with her demand that I be fired, with the word "pedagogical" circled in red. The HR Manager was fairly reasonable, and once he looked the word up in his dictionary and made a copy of the definition to send to my boss, he told me not to worry - he would take care of it. Two days later, a memo to the entire staff came out, directing that no words which could not be found in the local Sunday newspaper could be used in company memos. A month later I resigned. In accordance with company policy, I created my resignation letter by pasting words together from the Sunday paper. (Taco Bell Corporation)
13. This gem is the closing paragraph of a nationally-circulated memo from a large communications company: "Lucent Technologies is endeavorily determined to promote constant attention on current procedures of transacting business focusing emphasis on innovative ways to better, if not supercede, the expectations of quality!"

Greatest threats to climate - the global warming

There is a growing concern over climatic changes around the world and increasing number of people are showing interest towards the global warming. Year by year, the temperatures of a region are increasing and one fine day it may reach to a level which common man cannot tolerate. In the recent 10K run marathon conducted in Bangalore, I have seen a lot of Majja run participants propogating some information to save the climate and what we can do to the climate on our behalf. Infact it is every citizen's responsibility to show a concern towards climate. By the way what is 'global warming'? Global warming is the rise in temperature of the earth's atmosphere. Carbon dioxide and other air pollution that is collecting in the atmosphere like a thickening blanket, trapping the sun's heat and causing the planet to warm up. It's said that by the time a baby born today is 80 years old, the world will be 6 and a half degrees warmer than it is now. Although local temperatures fluctuate naturally, over the past 50 years the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recorded history. And experts think the trend is accelerating: the 10 hottest years on record have all occurred since 1990. Let us consider the case of cities like Bangalore. This city which was considered to be most serenic cool sity in 1990's is now grown to a temperatures around 37 ° C which was never imagined 10 years ago when it was not even around 30 ° C .

We keep reading about rising temperatures and sea-levels in other parts of the world like United States and the UK, but actually India is one of the most vulnerable countries when it comes to effects of global warming. India has a vast coastal line and the rising sea levels caused by global warming will cause an ecological disaster. This is according to a 1989 United Nations Environment Programme study. We already saw some warnings through Tsunami. - the massive tidal waves that have slammed into our costs have already taken the lives of many a thousands and left several others with no way of continuing their lives.

The Himalayan glaciers have started to melt and the average rate of retreat is almost twice (34 metres) per year as compared to the 1971 levels of 19 metres. The melting glaciers will cause temperatures and sea-levels to rise and there will be a cascading effect on the crops and the monsoons. Worse - whole islands are expected to vanish! In fact two have already gone under - two islands in the Sunderbans, an area which India shares with Bangladesh. Temperatures in the group of islands has already gone up by one degree centigrade. While some climatologists say that sea levels will increase by just 4-35 inches from 1990 levels in another hundred yea.... some feel that the range could be higher - 20-55 inches. Thats a lot and will affect human habitat in a big way.In fact, as far back as 1993 a study to evaluate the impact of rising sea levels on India was carried out by JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University). They calculated what would happen if the sea-levels rose by just 1 metre…and they found that as many as 7 million people would be displaced and 5,764 sq km of land and 4,200 km of roads would be lost!

What can one do to save the global warming? On a daily basic this is what we can do to contribute to climate. These are simple, but are highly practical and effective.
1. Plant native and/or drought-tolerant plants. Some grasses, ground covers, shrubs and trees do not need to be watered as frequently.
2. Make sure you re-cycle newspapers, glass bottles, tin cans, and magazines.
3. Reuse your shopping bag plastic instead of getting new ones each time you go to the market.
4. Donate your unwanted clothes.
5. Turn off the faucet when you are brushing your teeth. Avoid water wastage.
5 .Turn off electrical devices (lights, fans, tv, computers, etc.) when they are not in use. Again saving electricity will mean saving water used to generate electricity.
6. Use “Energy Efficient” appliances. They will save you about a third on their energy bill with similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions, without sacrificing features, style or comfort
7. Check for leaks (toilets, faucets, pipes, irrigation systems, etc.). • Install a low-flow shower head
8. Ride your bicycle instead of driving for short distances. Atleast try to walk. Walking is a good excercise.
9. Have showers instead of baths. Shower will take less water than a bucket.
10. Solar water heaters than Electric ones would mean saving power.

And the list goes on..... And now I am sure you will have enough ideas in your brain to save environment. Implementation of simple steps is very much important.
